Welcome to Park City, where the tourist population surpasses the number of permanent residents. Each year the town swells during the Sundance Film Festival, but there is so much more to discover here. During the winter, it’s home to the United States Ski Team & a perfect snowy getaway. During the summer it’s a peaceful retreat nestled away in nature with all the luxuries you’d expect. Park City is known for its scenery, canyons, ski slopes, & amazing resorts - get ready to explore!

Park City has its own free intra-city transit system, which is pretty golden to have on vacation. The trolley is also available which stops anywhere on Main Street. You can find your way around Park City easily with the train, trolley, or transit bus all available. Lyfts are everywhere as well for going further out or getting around at night.

Being roughly 38 miles away from Salt Lake City International airport, renting a car makes it the easiest way to get to Park City. If you don’t want to pay for parking while in Park City which gets expensive, you can take a Lyft for $40-50 & it will take about 45-60 minutes which is a cheaper option than most shuttles which runs about $100 each way. Public transportation could take 2+ hours so it’s not an ideal option.

Originally discovered by an early Mormon pioneer Parley Pratt in 1848, it would come to be named after him as “Parley’s Park City.” Its name would be changed to just Park City in the 1900s. Park City was once home to the largest silver mining company in the US that would unfortunately be destroyed by a fire in 1898. Unable to recuperate from multiple incidents in the mines, the residents would turn to skiing & resorts to attract tourism year round & has been this way since, a winter playground to the wealthy & elite. Sundance Film Festival would find its home here in 1978 & elevate the city even more.

Park City is amazing year round. In the winter it’s a snowy wonderland getaway - the perfect destination to ski your heart our with over 17 slopes to choose from & 300 trails to explore. It is also home to the famous Sundance Film Festival that any avid film lover would love to witness. In the summer there is hiking & biking & spas & nature to explore!

The best time to go skiing/snowboarding in Park City is from mid-November to early April. It averages temperatures of 10°-35° in January. Park City sees 340 inches of snow annually. It’s great during the summer too - with highs between 75-85°, clear skies & lots of sun.

If you visit Park City, you have to a try a Navajo taco - fried bread with beans or ground beef & topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese with a ripe green chile to finish it off. High West Distillery is a local favorite with incredible whiskeys to keep you warm on those cold slopes or a spiked lemonade to enjoy in the sunshine!

You’ll find all sorts of great local items in Park City. Southwest Indian Traders have a large variety of trinkets & unique items to take back home representing the historical inhabitants of Utah. If you want to splurge, you’ll find tons of fur & cashmere shops to keep you warm. Or bring home a bottle of whiskey from High West & a classic Park City sweatshirt from hitting the slopes.

This is a winter wonderland most of the year, so everyone dresses cozy with boots & oversized coats. On a warmer day, you'll easily catch a resident in a sweatshirt & hip scarf walking around town. Think mountain chic!

Just because it’s snowing doesn’t mean you can’t get sunburnt. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen, no matter the time of year, especially if you’re hitting the slopes. Keep the elevation in mind, stay hydrated, & give yourself time to adjust!
