Welcome!

Temecula is well known for its championship golf courses, a climate perfect for serene and beautiful hot-air ballooning adventures, and award-winning wineries nestled in 3,000 acres of picturesque wine country, but that's just the beginning! Get ready to explore the hidden gem of the Inland Empire!

Finding Your Way

Old Town Temecula (and the wineries and resorts that surround it) is very walkable! Ride shares and winery tours are available to travel between wineries while drinking as well, but we recommend a car to travel to other points of interests in the area.

Airport Deets

There are a total of five airports near Temecula, all within an hour and a half’s drive. They include smaller airports like John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Ontario International Airport in San Bernardino County, and Palm Springs International Airport which will have a smaller selection of daily flights and connections. More likely you will fly in via San Diego International Airport or LAX in Los Angeles. If you are traveling to Temecula, most of these airports are very similar in regards to how long it’s going to take to get to each one -- about an hour to an hour and a half. The one exception is LAX -- not only is it a little longer in mileage, but you could always hit traffic in LA, which can add hours to your drive. There are a few busses and shuttles that will bring you from San Diego airport to Temecula, but the best route is via car. A ride share from San Diego airport could cost from $80-$100+ depending on fare increases, etc.

History

The area was inhabited by the Temecula Indians for hundreds of years before their contact with the Spanish missionaries. Little is known about the early 1800s because Temecula records were destroyed in the fire that followed the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. In the mid-1850s and on, the area became a well-known stop for stagecoaches (and you can see this era romanticized in the historical buildings in Old Town). The railroads made Temecula an important shipping area for granite, grain, and cattle through the late 19th and early 20th century. The Temecula Valley Wine Country were planted with commercial wine grapes in 1967 ... and the rest is history as they say! Throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, Temecula has grown to be a world-class tourist destination because of its wineries, festivals like the annual Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival, golf, the thriving downtown and entertainment district in Old Town, and the Pechanga Resort and Casino.

Why Am I Here?

It doesn’t take long for visitors to unwind and relax when they're in Temecula. And that's for a few very good reasons -- the Southern California Wine Country, excellent outdoor recreation and entertainment (including a world class casino) among the rolling green hills, a quaint small-town atmosphere, an excellent culinary scene to pair with your wine, and a community of vibrant, hardworking locals who will make you feel welcome and at home here!

Weather

A true Mediterranean climate, the summers are hot, arid, and mostly clear and the winters are long, cool, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 41°F to 89°F and is rarely below 34°F or above 96°F. It kind of sounds like paradise ... doesn't it?

Local Delicacies

With an emerging and evolving culinary scene, Temecula benefits from local produce and innovative restaurants! Maybe it's a coincidence or it is due to the shared Mediterranean climate, but the Italian food here is our favorite in all of Cali!

Souvenirs

Wine! First planted in the late '60s, the region is now home to nearly 50 wineries, from boutique to large-production, rustic to modern. Bring home (or direct ship!) your favorites during your tastings!

Style

With its small-town atmosphere, its wineries, and the many outdoor enthusiasts who live and visit Temecula the style is laid back and casual. Feel free to live your best Tuscany-dream in your favorite sundress or linen shirt as you winery hop!
